Wind and Fire

Nathan and I pray before our painting sessions because we want the leading of the Holy Spirit in our painting.  Beautiful and elevating spiritual music is part of our mutual time with the Lord.  We also share a range of interests, far too broad to mention.

A short several days ago, after prayer, I asked Nathan, "Do you have anything?  I told him I saw figures running in the wind.  The wind was carrying airborne things with it.  He said, "I saw wind and fire."  We knew the Lord had given us something.  I began painting fast, and almost with abandon.  I painted lush green grass on a slope, wind swept clouds, and figures running into the wind.  All at once the color became a towering flame, rising from the green earth.  The flame was the fire of the Holy Spirit and a few people were rushing to embrace it.  A few; were asking where are all the others?  The lure and siren call of the world sometimes seem stronger than the wind of the Spirit.

Wings of a Great Eagle

Satan has always, even as he does today, hate the nation of Israel.  He hates her because this nation represents God's chosen people, the people from whom God's Messiah came.  This nation is a continual reminder to Satan of his total defeat.  In the last days, Satan, knowing that his time is short, will make an effort to destroy Israel.  At this time the woman (Israel) will be given the wings of a great eagle to carry her into the wilderness, where she will be protected.  In like manner God protects His sheep.

As you read the New Testament accounts of Jesus and His association with other people, you soon realize that these encounters are meant to reveal about himself.  All truth can be distilled into these four little words; It's all about Him.  Old testament patriarchs fully understood this concept and their worldview was through the eyes of God.  When Samuel chose Israel's first king from among Jesse's sons, he, having the sight of God, picked David who wasn't even present at this gathering of sons.  When we come to realize that it's all about God,l we are then in a position to have a more accurate perception of most everything.

It's still interesting to look at the people in Jesus' life.  Mary, the sister of Martha was much loved by Jesus.  While He had His divine love for her, He probably also had a warm human affection for Mary as a friend.  Mary could set for hours at the feet of jesus in rapt wonderment as He spoke to her, as pictured in my painting.  Whatever they were talking about, she "was choosing that good thing which wouldn't be taken from her."

Dancing on Water

The fishing boat of the disciples was being driven mightily by the gale and was taking water.  The men aboard her were fighting with oars and rudder to keep the tiny vessel on which their very lives depended pointed into the wind.  They were losing their fight for life.  Suddenly, they saw a ghostly figure walking toward them over the raging sea.  I was the Lord!  His eyes NEVER leave us.  He always knows where we are.
